Our mission at Retreat Hill Winery & Retreat Hill Cellars is to create elegant wines, in a relaxed country setting, inspired by the pioneers who founded Texas.
Retreat Hill Winery & Vineyards is located in the rolling hills of southern Grimes County, Texas, about 60 miles N.W. of downtown Houston. Our name was inspired by Groce's Retreat, which was located about 2.5 miles from our location. The Texas Declaration of Independence was authored at Groce's Retreat and later ratified at Washington-On-The-Brazos on March 02, 1836. Between March 18 and March 21, 1836, Groce’s Retreat served as the capital of the Republic of Texas.

Retreat Hill Cellars is located at 211 Liberty Street (SH 149, one block north of SH 105) in the oldest building in downtown Montgomery, Texas, birthplace of the Texas flag. This magnificent building was built in 1908 and was one of the first, "State" banks in Texas. The old vault is still in the building but the safe is long gone. Our tasting room is available for unique private dining experiences for six to eight people. We also have a plenty of parking next to our work building, one block west at 210 Pond Street.
