A Texas Winery with Roots in the Birthplace of Texas

Our mission at Retreat Hill Winery & Vineyard is to create elegant wines, in a relaxed country setting, inspired by the pioneers who founded Texas.
We are located in the rolling hills of southern Grimes County, Texas, about 60 miles N.W. of downtown Houston. Our name was inspired by Groce's Retreat, which was located about 2.5 miles from our location. The Texas Declaration of Independence was authored at Groce's Retreat and later ratified at Washington-On-The-Brazos on March 02, 1836. Between March 18 and March 21, 1836, Groce’s Retreat served as the capital of the Republic of Texas.
